How does it works?

Brief Strategic Therapy is a unique approach to training and human problems solving that presents specific theoretical foundations and practices in constant evolution based on the latest empirical research. In literatureone can find different brief therapy models, but this one is the only Brief Strategic Psychotherapyģ Model, formulated in an original way by prof. Nardone and his colleagues at the Centro di Terapia Strategica di Arezzo. A model that in addition to international scientific awards, has also obtained the registration as a patent representing a genuine Thinking School, currently the only one that can boast its precursor presence.

Itís a brief therapeutic intervention (meaning with "brief" below 10 sessions) that is engaged, on the one hand in eliminating dysfunctional symptoms or behaviours for which the person is coming to therapy, and on the other, in producing ways of change through which patient builds personal and interpersonal reality in order to learn and finally acquire a new balance that will allow him not to suffer any longer, but to manage his own reality. Consequently, Brief Strategic Therapy represents a radical and lasting intervention, and not just a superficial and merely symptomatic therapy.

"Knowing the problem through its solution", instead of looking for "why " there is a problem, is the "action-research" methodology to distinguish our Model from traditional psychotherapy forms; such methodology application has led to the construction of specific treatment protocols for specific disorders, causing it to become the treatment of choice for most of human problems, also applicable to larger interpersonal contexts, such as social and educational ones. Unlike traditional psychological and psychiatric theories, a strategic therapist does not use any "human nature" theory and, consequently, not even "normality" or "psychic disease" definitions.

Instead, from this perspective, we are interested in the "functionality" or "dysfunctionality" of people behaviour and their way of dealing with their own reality. Its primary goal is to resolve as quickly as possible intrusive and invalidating problems and disorders not only for sufferers but also for people surrounding them. From this point of view, the usual belief that problems and inconveniences persisting for a long time, to be solved necessarily need an equally long and suffered therapeutic treatment, is absurd. In many cases, through a well thought and well applied strategic plan, you can quickly unlock (sometimes after a single meeting), problems and disorders rooted from years.

Obviously, there are cases requiring a longer therapy, as there are some requiring shorter times. However, we remain convinced that if a therapy works, then it must produce significant changes very quickly.
